With great sadness, we share the news of Gaetana “Gay” Bruno’s passing on January 21, 2024, surrounded by her children and many grandchildren. She was a cherished wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Her love and wisdom will forever be remembered by her family and all who knew her.
She devoted many hours to crocheting blankets and hats which were donated to the Children’s Hospital, the VA Hospital, the homeless, and the needy after she retired. She made hundreds of ear protectors for first responders and healthcare workers during the pandemic. Often, she surpassed her goal of “100 hats for the homeless” every winter. She also taught and inspired many other volunteers to join her in her mission.
She is survived by her six children, Camille Murphy (George Sullivan), Denise Jensen (Poul), Patti Cecchi (Mike), Fran Loshin-Turso (Rob), Connie Bruno, Frank Bruno (Mary Ellen), and her thirteen grandchildren Matthew Murphy (Whitney), Aaron Jensen, Dylan Jensen, Michael Cecchi (Nicole), Lauren Cecchi, Paige Cecchi, Alex Loshin Mayes (Simon), Miranda Loshin, Bobby Turso, Natalie Guinness, Christopher Bruno, Amanda Bruno, and Mike Bruno.
She is also survived by her five great-grandchildren, the “greats” as she called them Jack, Dillon, and Henry Murphy, and Hannah and Lily Cecchi.
She was predeceased by her parents Dominick and Rose Salzano, her husband Frank, and grandson Joseph Murphy as well as her sister Rosemarie, and brother Dominick, Jr.
We are very grateful to Teresa, for her wonderful care, compassion, kindness, and friendship.
